Are you feeling stuck in rut? No motivation, no energy? We know the next two to three months are the busiest time of year for most people and we want to help you beat the burden and get your creativity back.
When your first thought in the morning is "bleh", that feeling of passion and wanting to take charge and action being a thing of the past, you may have to face the realisation that you are in a bit of a hole. Without feelings of motivation you feel a little lost and stuck.
But we're here to tell you it's ok to feel this way. Everyone goes through it and it's normally the one thing that gets that fire inside of you burning so bright that you ever wondered how you could have felt so low.
Here is some really genuine advice from us to help you get your groove back:
Take a step back
Take a moment to understand that no one has everything perfectly mapped out. Our goals and dreams are achievable when we take a second to figure out where we are on the road to achieving what makes us ultimately happy. Trust and faith in yourself go a long way to helping you find the balance that you need to kick the stagnant place you find yourself in. Sit down and write down your WHY. Look at it each morning and we promise you will feel inspired and more motivated than ever to achieve your why!
Changing your environment
Look around your workspace now. Does it inspire you? Does it give you motivation to get stuck into those things you have been putting off? Your environment determines your mood. Don't let it get you down before you even begin your day. Whether you work from a home office or a work office, start again and create something that makes you happy. Whether it be a few new funky items that make it more you, or a pin board filled with things that inspire you. Doing this will provide you the discipline and productivity you need to get through your to do list each day.
Making time to do things other than work
If you are having to force yourself to work, it may be a sign that you are working too hard! Ask yourself "what do I need to do today?", the answer is likely to make you miserable. Making some time for something so small as morning reflection or meditation will slowly help you to change the way your answer makes you feel. Paddling upstream is a battle you are never going to win, so please give yourself the time in a day to do the things you need to do for your own sanity and peace of mind.
Change your perspective
Being in a place where everything from daily work to brushing your teeth seems like the biggest task will almost always sway your mindset and produce quite negative thoughts and feelings. We know it sounds cliché but positive thinking REALLY works. Change your outlook on everything and start believing in yourself. Reading some positive, inspirational and motivational quotes each morning, or telling yourself "I can" rather than I can't will make it more believable. Mentally explore the dynamics of what is troubling you and change the way you look at it. There is always more than one way to look at a situation, and we do ourselves a disservice when we close our minds to possibility.
Do something spontaneous
Plan a trip to somewhere you have never been, go alone and love yourself again. Do something artistic like drawing or painting, you don't need to be the world's greatest artist to do this. Write down your feelings onto paper or start a journal. Walk among mother nature. Go outside into your garden and sniff the flowers. Sing in the shower at the top of your lungs. Read a book or listen to music that takes you back to a place of comfort and nostalgic memories. The list is endless really.
We can do this, there are better things that lie ahead than anything we leave behind. Have some faith! All these things will help you along the road to your dreams but one thing that will make them all a whole lot easier to do is to love yourself. Everyday!
